Richard Thompson
Richard cut his teeth in the youth market with legendary youth brands, Club
18-30 and Buddies before moving into skiing, school travel and eventually
setting up his own leisure businesses in Greece. An accident in the French
Alps, in which he sustained a spinal injury would lead Richard into the
'world of disability'. It was perhaps inevitable then that the two elements
would come together and in 1997 he moved into the field of accessible travel
and almost a decade on has brought his unique level of knowledge, insight
and vision to bare on this new and exciting holiday service.
Wendy Moore
Wendy is well known in the trade having spent 30 years running her own chain
of retail agents before establishing a leading flight consolidation business.
Having recently hung up her corporate hat, she has spent the past year
'educating' the retail trade about the merits and methods of servicing
disabled customers. Wendy knows more than most about the opportunities
which this market presents and looks forward to helping improve access
to the world for all.
Paul Derbyshire
Paul's formative years in the industry were spent at the sharp end - in resort.
A road traffic accident and subsequent spinal cord injury sustained whilst
working in South Africa, limited Paul's mobility...but not his love of
travel! Paul has spent the last 7 years at the forefront of tour operations
for disabled travellers. He has also journeyed the globe extensively as
a wheelchair user, and knows first hand the impact of good (and, conversely,
poor) service on the experience of disabled travellers.
John Cressey
John’s knowledge of ‘disabled travel’ could never have
been gleaned from sitting in an office or shop selling travel to others.
No. Despite being paralysed in a car accident at the tender age of 17, and
still in his twenties, John has challenged any restrictions that limited
mobility may have placed on him and taken on journeys to far flung and often
remote corners of the globe that would phase many non-disabled travellers.
He is in a word, inspirational. Constantly ‘on the move’ John
provides the Holiday Access Direct team with first hand information about
new discoveries and tales from his global odyssey. Feel free to ask John
about his travels via our ‘Ask the Experts’ link.
Ian Carter
The way we travel and the means by which we book has changed dramatically
in recent times. This means that success is based on a fusion of travel
and technology know-how. Ian brings the latter to the ‘party’.
Masters of web development, Ian and his team ensure that our site enables
you to book accessible travel quickly and efficiently, looks great and,
importantly, complies with recognised standards of accessibility too. Visit
www.accessiblewebsites.co.uk for more information on website accessibility.
